What can I unlock or research as my department grows?
Police Chief features an in-depth research and progression system that empowers departments to grow both structurally and operationally over time. Rather than giving you every feature from the start, players earn upgrades through active gameplay, administrative decisions, and budget allocation. Here’s a breakdown of what you can unlock:
📡 Dispatch & Operations
• Unlock access to dispatchers who can assign units, manage callouts, and streamline department communication.
• Expand radio systems, add regional dispatch control, or automate minor calls through AI-assisted response tiers.
🚔 Vehicles & Equipment
• Unlock a wide variety of specialized vehicles: patrol SUVs, K9 units, pickup trucks, undercover cars, and drones for surveillance and search.
• Acquire non-lethal gear like beanbag shotguns or pepperball launchers, expanding tactical approaches.
• Install CCTV infrastructure throughout cities and stations for remote monitoring and investigations.
🧠 Rank Structure & Leadership
• Create new custom ranks with editable icons and permissions such as Staff, HOD, Admin, or Detective status.
• Use research to unlock high command permissions, allowing staff to manage budgets, staff, and buildings independently.
📊 Department Organization
• Set up department divisions (e.g., Traffic, SWAT, CID) and assign units through your own command structure.
• Unlock features like performance reviews, reports, and advanced staff tools.
🔬 How Research Works
Research is tied to your department’s funding and management progress. You invest in research points (earned through calls, patrols, or budget management), and unlock new branches depending on playstyle — whether you want to focus on patrol, tech, investigations, or administrative excellence.
This system encourages long-term progression, leadership, and strategic growth — giving each department its own identity and depth.
